Dear Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico friend:

One of the most rewarding things that 2021 brought us at Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico was the opportunity to connect directly with beneficiaries of our housing repair and rehabilitation projects throughout the Island. Many of them expressed that having a home in which to share special moments with family, friends, and neighbors is one of their greatest joys, especially during the holidays.

Today, as many of us prepare to celebrate the holidays at home surrounded by family and friends, it gives us great satisfaction to know that through our work many more families in Puerto Rico can finally enjoy the stability and peace of mind that comes from having a decent and safe place to live that they can proudly call “my home”.

Although filled with challenges and the uncertainty that still permeates in the wake of the pandemic, 2021 was a year of great accomplishments in which we continued growing our programs in diverse areas of focus. More importantly, we touched and forever changed the lives of many people who will welcome the new year with a renewed sense of hope and strength. .

Every one of our efforts this year was made possible by the genuine desire to help and the generosity of our allies, donors, and volunteers. For your support which has given hundreds of families the opportunity of a new beginning, for helping to improve the quality of life of those in need of affordable and safe housing, for contributing to the recovery and sustainable reconstruction of Puerto Rico, we want to say THANK YOU!

As we look ahead to 2022, a special year that will mark the 25th Anniversary of Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico, we remain focused on contributing to the reconstruction of our Island, investing resources and efforts toward the continuity of our programs in the areas of housing rehabilitations and repairs, tenure, and construction skills training. In addition, we will intensify our work in the areas of advocacy to promote affordable housing policy and risk reduction in vulnerable communities.

Much work remains to be done and we are ready to move ahead. Nevertheless, the scale and reach of our efforts depend on the support of our donors, volunteers, and allies. Together we can achieve even more, and we look forward to your support during the upcoming year, and if you have not done so already, this is an opportunity to continue working toward the reconstruction of more lives, homes, communities, and Puerto Rico.
