Since 1997, Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Ricoās trajectory has been one of the continuous solid steps and evolution to offer services that adapt to local housing needs.
We are proud of our 25 years of work and achievements on the Island!
Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico begins working on its first project, Villa Habitat, a multiunit development for 13 families located at Eduardo Conde Avenue in Villa Palmeras.
Start of the home repair pilot program āToque de CariƱoā, which helps homeowner families, repair their homes.
Rehabilitation of Habitat Puerto Ricoās second multiunit project in Santurce begins. Various āToque de CariƱoā rehabilitation projects were completed.
In response to hurricane Maria, Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico develops the Disaster Response Program and delivers a total of 2,000 repair kits to Municipalities.
In addition, the organization created the Puerto Rico Recovery Program to address housing needs, following hurricanes Irma and MarĆa.
Construction skills training program, Habitat Builds Puerto Rico, launches at Universidad del Sagrado CorazĆ³n in Santurce. Educational efforts for our programās beneficiaries continue, and collaborative alliances with local organizations and communities are established to execute tenure and community support projects.
12 families became homeowners as part of our multiunit project in Santurce. 3 housing rehabilitations were completed in PeƱuelas and Vega Baja.
Inauguration of Habitat Builds Puerto Rico Construction Lab at Albergue OlĆmpico to continue Habitat Builds PR program. More than 500 homes where repaired at June 2022 as part of our Repairs Program.
Habitat Puerto Rico will continue working towards completing the goals for the Puerto Rico Recovery Program and seeks to inaugurate its first secondhand household materials store; ReStore in Puerto Rico.
